The best friend and cousin of honeymoon murder victim Anni Dewani has been left distraught after receiving a vicious message criticising her for not doing more to save her life.
The message sent to Sneha Hindocha via Facebook also hurtfully stated: ‘Hope you are comfortable in your dead cousin’s saris.’
The 27-year-old believes the message may have been sent by supporters of Anni’s husband Shrien Dewani, who is accused of orchestrating the killing during the couple’s honeymoon in South Africa.
Last week Home Secretary Theresa May rubber-stamped an extradition order to send Mr Dewani to Cape Town to answer claims that he offered to pay two hitmen £1,400 to kill his 28-year-old wife in a faked carjacking.
The move follows a campaign by the bereaved Hindocha family, who demanded the British businessman stand trial to give them the answers that would allow them closure.
Miss Hindocha believes the message may have been sent by a supporter of Mr Dewani because the only prayers she has attended in Bristol took place at Mr Dewani’s home in Westbury-on-Trym just days after Anni’s murder.
The Facebook message was sent under the name ‘Sneha Mushru’ – the name Miss Hindocha will take when she marries her fiance next year.
This further convinced her the sender had knowledge of the Hindocha family.
Miss Hindocha said: ‘It must be someone who knows me. I know who I think it is but I don’t want to say anything because I don’t want to cause any problems.’ Miss Hindocha and Anni moved to Britain together and shared a flat in Luton before Anni married Mr Dewani in India two weeks before her murder.
She said the cruel words in the message hurt her deeply.
‘When I read it the first time I started to cry and I got more and more guilty feelings,’ she said. ‘I already had a kind of guilt – you always say, “I wish I would have done this, I wish I would have done that.”
‘Me and Anni would just talk about everything like we always did but now I wish I had said different things to her.
‘But that’s something I have to live with every day, I don’t need someone throwing it in my face and saying you could have stopped [her dying].
‘I got more and more frightened because it’s just messages now, but what’s next?’
Mr Dewani was implicated in his wife’s murder by Zolo Tongo, the couple’s taxi driver in Cape Town, who claimed in a plea bargain that Mr Dewani had arranged the killing.
Tongo has already been jailed for 18 years after admitting his part in the crime. Two other men, one seriously ill with a brain tumour, face trial next year.

Surya Nambudiri (also spelled Namboodiri) is apparently famous for making prophecies — what’s a godman without the power to prophecy — and after a tough bargain, agrees to turn 100 million of black money into white money for a 15% commission. Not surprisingly, he couldn’t foretell his own future.

Kapil Advait is a former wing commander-turned-godman, engaged in money laundering for commissions ranging from 20% to 50%.

As expected, the Sangh Parivar jumped to the godmen’s defense. The BJP spokesperson said:

What is the purpose behind a sting operation? And why are Hindus always maligned?
Confused? Here’s the train of thought: VHP (and the Sangh Parivar) represents all Hindus, the exposed godmen are sympathetic to the Sangh Parivar, so an expose of their fraudulent activities is equivalent to maligning all Hindus. Besides, as Swami Nirliptananda, Secretary of the London Sevashram Sangha and a member of the Hindu Forum of Britain’s Spiritual Body Commission, recently observed:

Even among human beings, saintly people occupy a different status from others.
According to former income tax commissioner Vishwabandhu Gupta:

[This is] a fit case for criminal proceedings. Two of the biggest religion mafias are the Ram Janmanbhoomi Nyas and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad amongst the Hindus. They have 10 bogus trusts floated from the same address. The names are there (in our record) and so are the addresses. They are getting money from 50 countries abroad and are also getting tax exemptions. There are no accounts as well. You see, this is a big menace. We have calculated and found that religious leaders annually earn $3 billion which is about Rs 10,000 crore -Rs 15,000 crore worth of money. What they do is they get land at throwaway prices. During the last government, 11 including that Sadhvi Ritambhara – whatever her qualifications are – got a fantastic (sic) piece of land at a throwaway price for the services that she heads today. There have fraudulent names, addresses, existences and expenditures. They use it for spreading communal hatred.
Honeymoon murder suspect Shrien Dewani was targetted by an internet prankster yesterday – who posted sick jokes about his tragic wife Anni’s death on TWITTER.

The trickster created a fake profile on the 140-character microblogging site with the user name ‘ShrienDewani’, which is illustrated with a photograph of the businessman.
In a series of sarcastic tweets, the bogus ‘ShrienDewani’ covers topics such as his sexuality, paying for two return tickets when only needing one and Anni’s insurance payout.
His profile description reads: ”I didn’t ever kill urm…whatsername? My wife…damnit. Nor did I pay anyone to do it. Also I like women. Just women. Love me some vagina. Oh yeah!”

The first tweet posted on December 10 reads: ”I wasn’t caught paying the taxi driver for murder on CCTV. I was only giving him R10 000 cause I was used to taxi prices in London.”
A reference is then made to claims Shrien is homosexual with: ”I wish when The Sun asked me why I took my wife to Cape Town if it wasn’t to have her killed, I hadn’t said, ”For the Gay Nightlife””.
The prankster then uses the account to joke about deceased wife Anni, tweeting: ”I hope the insurance on my wife pays out soon. Last night I had to stay in and eat a can of beans. It’s no way for a billionaire to act.”

It then goes on to add: ”My lawyer has advised that I go spend today in South East London, so if someone asks I can prove I like to hang out in dangerous places.”
And in connection with alleged links with the 2007 murder of Dr Pox Raghavjee the pseudo ‘ShrienDewani’ tweets: ”Now police are after me for a murder in the Eastern Cape. Let it go! What’s next? Arresting me for those sweets I stole when I was 10?”
The latest tweet, posted today reads: ”The worst thing about this whole ordeal is that I can’t catch a taxi anymore without the driver offering to kill someone for me. Hilarious.”
At time of publication, ‘ShrienDewani’ had more than 200 followers and had made 15 tweets from December 10 to today.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719647869194550311.post-66021380199803431392011-01-02T09:00:00.001-08:002011-01-02T09:00:37.565-08:00DEWANI: the travel consultant...http://myeasyholiday.com/honeymoon-anni-dewani-was-killed-just-days-after-her-husbands-honeymoon-con/Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719647869194550311.post-54949842152501964122011-01-02T05:13:00.001-08:002011-01-02T05:18:29.776-08:00DETAILED CCTV footage
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Strolling alongside the husband accused of plotting her death, Anni Dewani is pictured in CCTV images just an hour before she was murdered.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">These pictures, taken at 10.24pm at a Cape Town sushi bar, emerged along with details of a second murder being linked to millionaire Dewani.

<span style="background-color: yellow; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Police have also seized three sets of CCTV footage allegedly showing two separate meetings at the £300-a-night Cape Grace hotel between Tongo and Dewani and records of text messages between the two men, which were exchanged before the murder.

<span style="background-color: yellow; color: black; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Shots taken after Anni died show the care home boss spent 10 minutes alone with Tongo.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> Cameras allegedly captured him at the back of the hotel as the cabbie’s car arrives at the front.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Both men talk on their mobiles and Tongo walks in. As he goes in Dewani allegedly heads for the lobby with a plastic bag. Tongo follows.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Within minutes the husband emerges followed by Tongo who appears to have something under his shirt.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The taxi driver then enters the toilets in the lobby, where police suspect he may have counted the payment he claims to have received.

<span style="background-color: yellow; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">There are also clips of him leaving with Tongo on the day of the murder. The pair re-appear 45 minutes later.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">They are filmed driving off towards the bustling city centre.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Tongo claims this was when he took Dewani to a black market foreign exchange dealer to change money.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">He has told police it was on the way back the newlywed told him how he wanted the killing carried out.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Detectives said they are investigating care home boss Dewani over the death of Dr Pox Raghavjee, 60, in 2007.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Tongo, who got 18 years for gunning down Anni, claimed Dewani told him he previously had a person murdered in the country.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Dr Raghavjee was killed by a single shot during an apparent car jacking in King Williams Town.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">His half-naked body was found slumped on a gravel road a few metres from his Mercedes by a policeman.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">That murder remains unsolved and the motive unclear after Dr Raghavjee’s mobile phone, watch and cash were found at the scene

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Officers have quizzed staff at the Golden Touch jewellers and reckon the millionaire businessman handed over the money without showing any ID.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">They say they have CCTV footage two days later showing Shrien handing cash to taxi driver Zola Tongo, 31 – allegedly to pay the hitmen who killed his new wife Anni, 28, on their honeymoon.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Pawnshop staff have given police statements as well as CCTV footage of the day.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Owner Maria remembers Tongo bringing an English man in to exchange cash.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">But the amount was so large she had to take it elsewhere to change. The deal lasted no more than 10 minutes.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">She said: “We have lots of taxi drivers, especially over the World Cup period. He came with Tongo, who chatted with my female staff while I changed the money. I don’t remember the Englishman’s face but I remember the amount. Maybe he was wearing sunglasses but I see so many faces in a day it’s impossible to remember them.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">“The girls all remember Tongo. I didn’t give a receipt. I gave him the top rate as a favour.”
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Tongo was last week sentenced to 18 years in jail for murder, kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances and perverting the course of justice.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Two other men – Xolile Mnguni, 23, and Mziwamadoda Qwabe, 25 – face charges of murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Dewani was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to murder Anni and is fighting extradition to South Africa from his home in Bristol after being granted bail for a £250,000 surety.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The pawnshop in Cape Town he is said to have visited is close to official currency changers.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Yesterday it was busy with local punters being buzzed in through in a metal security gate.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Asked why a millionaire tourist would come to her, Maria, in her 40s, said: “People have different reasons. Sometimes they don’t have ID with them.”

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The next highest amount she could remember recently changing was £193 from an Iranian couple.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Sitting behind a kiosk, she offered a steady stream of mainly young men, cash for jewellery on a no-questions-asked basis. She said Tongo had been a regular customer, bringing small change in foreign tips that she collects and then changes with official dealers.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">On the day of Anni’s murder, she said Tongo had asked to look at a bracelet but did not buy it.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Before he and the English man left she remembers Tongo asked her for his commission but she told him he could only have 10 rand as she had given the “top rate”.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The driver gave the money to one female worker while handing his phone number to another, she said. The two women were unwilling to talk to us yesterday.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Last night the Dewanis’ spokesman Max Clifford said: “Shrien asked the taxi driver where was the best place to get the best rate and it was the taxi driver who took him there. It was his decision to go there and not Shrien’s.”

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">A Dewani family source added: “Shrien was so in love with Anni, she was the woman of his dreams, he was smitten by her.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">“Every day they would be calling each other until the early hours of the morning and again first thing when they woke up. We have phone records to prove this.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">“It was not arranged, there was no dowry or pre-nup, they just wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">“Shrien is being persecuted, not prosecuted. He is not a monkey, murderer or evil. He played no part in her murder.”

Questions: Vinod Hindocha, pictured here with daughter Anni Dewani, says she refused to sit next to her husband on their honeymoon flight

The British tourist murdered in South Africa burst into tears and refused to sit next to her husband as they flew off on their honeymoon, her father claimed last night.

Anni Dewani, 28, was shot dead when she and her new husband Shrien were hijacked by robbers as their taxi drove through a notorious township in Cape Town. Mr Dewani was released unharmed.

Yesterday Anni’s father, Vinod Hindocha, added to the mystery surrounding the case when he telephoned The Mail on Sunday and said: ‘We have heard that the air hostess noticed they were sitting separately and Anni was crying.

The air hostess apparently asked Anni if she would like to sit with Shrien, but Anni said no.’

It is not clear where this information originated from, or indeed how it was passed to Anni’s family. Pressed to elaborate, Mr Hindocha said: ‘We are not sure, it is something you will have to check out.’

Last night Mr Dewani’s British lawyer, Charlotte Harris, denied there was any hostility between the couple. However her statement did not refute the allegation that Anni had been crying.

She said: ‘Any suggestion that there was hostility between the couple on the aeroplane or at any other point during the honeymoon is completely false.’ She added: ‘The Dewani family are upset about the Press intrusion into their grief at this very difficult time.’

Earlier, speaking from his home in Mariestad, Sweden, Mr Hindocha, 61, expressed disappointment that Mr Dewani, 31, had failed to return to Cape Town to try to identify the hijackers. A South African newspaper has claimed detectives want him to return to South Africa for questioning.

Taxi driver Zola Tongo, 31, and two local men have been charged with murder and robbery.

Mr Dewani has strenuously denied any involvement in the death of his wife. Max Clifford, the public relations adviser hired by Mr Dewani, said his client was not a formal suspect and would not be travelling back to Cape Town.

He said Mr Dewani was ‘under sedation’ after the shock of what he had been through.

Yesterday Mr Hindocha described how the murder had damaged his relationship with Mr Dewani. He said: ‘If Anni was alive today then our relationship would have been strong like father and son, but with Anni dead that bond isn’t there. I think he should go back to South Africa and point out the culprits.’

Witness: An air hostess has apparently claimed that Anni Dewani burst into tears on the flight with her husband

Mr Hindocha said he flew to Cape Town to join Mr Dewani and his father, Prakash, hours after learning his daughter had been killed. ‘Shrien came up to me with tears in his eyes and said, “I couldn’t take care of your daughter as I promised.”

‘He then described how they had been kidnapped, robbed, and how, after he had been thrown out of the window, Anni was killed.

Mr Hindocha, an electrical engineer, said neither the South African police nor British or Swedish embassies had contacted him in the 10 days since he left Cape Town.

He also revealed that Mr Dewani had told his daughter before the wedding that he had been engaged before but did not say why it was broken off.

He said the marriage between Anni and Mr Dewani was not arranged and her family had not paid a dowry to the Dewani family during the lavish wedding held in Mumbai in September, which is understood to have cost in the region of £200,000.

Mr Hindocha said: ‘We are part of the Lohana caste and dowries do not exist in our culture. If I want to give him something it is up to me.’

Together: Shrien Dewani, pictured with Anni, has strictly denied any involvement in her murder

He added: ‘Anni and Shrien were introduced by relatives in England about 14 months ago but my daughter had to make up her own mind. I never spoke to Shrien’s family before the engagement – my daughter did not want us to meet the parents until she was sure. I did know Shrien was well educated.’

Mr Dewani is based in Westbury-on-Trym in Bristol where he runs a chain of care homes. The couple had planned to settle in the West Country.

Mr Hindocha described the moment his family heard the taxi carrying Anni had been hijacked. He said he spoke to his daughter on the phone just a couple of hours before the attack and she had assured him she was having a ‘lovely time’.

Comment: Shrien had suggested they ring their families before leaving on the fateful night...

But later he received another phone call, from Prakash Dewani.
‘Anni’s father-in-law rang around midnight and said, “Your daughter is kidnapped but Shrien is fine.”

At that moment my wife knew. She cried and said, “She is not alive, I feel it.” Shrien’s brother, Preyen, rang and said he had arranged tickets for a plane from Gothenburg.

‘I arrived in Amsterdam, where I was to catch my connecting flight to Cape Town and I switched my phone on and called home, hoping to hear what had happened to Anni. Before I could say anything they were crying and I knew she was dead.’

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">A witness who encountered Shrien Dewani minutes after he was dumped by his wife’s killers has cast new light on the millionaire businessman’s account of what happened.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">Simbonile Matokazi, 33, a local government auditor, says the businessman did not appear to have been thrown from the car on to sand, as Mr Dewani initially claimed.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">Neither does Mr Matokazi’s testimony support the 30-year-old’s later assertion that he was dragged ‘struggling and screaming’ out of the passenger window.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">He said Mr Dewani ‘had a suit on and a nice shirt underneath’ and looked neither ruffled nor bruised.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">‘We just saw a decent guy,’ he added. Mr Matokazi’s observations were endorsed by a police source closely involved in the investigation.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">‘The officer who reached him [Mr Dewani] said that it didn’t look like he was hurt,’ said the source. ‘He saw no injuries or anything. And there was no sand on his clothes.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">‘It didn’t look like Mr Dewani had been in a struggle. He still looked smart, like he was coming out of a restaurant.’

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">After dropping off some friends at the airport, Mr Matokazi – who was with his wife – was about to park his car when he saw Mr Dewani staggering between some roadside shacks.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">‘He said to me, “Excuse me, is there a nearby police station where I can report a hijack because my wife and I were hijacked”, ’ said Mr Matokazi.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">‘I said, “Where is the car now?”

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">I asked a few questions about how long he had been out of the car.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">‘I asked him what kind of car they were driving and he didn’t know. He said he thought it was a VW car. He was almost crying. In fact, he was crying.’

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">Mr Matokazi said he then called the police. ‘The guy was walking up and down, panicking and in shock. My wife was worried that the hijackers would rape his wife but I told her not to say that loud because it would upset him more.’

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">While they waited for the police, Mr Dewani claimed that he had been ‘kicked’ out of the car on to sand.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">Asked if he appeared to have been dragged out of the car, Mr Matokazi said: ‘Honestly, no, there was nothing like that.’

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">But Mr Matokazi insisted that Mr Dewani seemed believable: ‘I even said if he was an actor then he must have been a good actor. Everything looked genuine that night.’

<span style="background-color: yellow; color: black; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">When the police arrived, they asked Mr Dewani for the registration number of the taxi and he said he could get it by ringing his family in London.

<span style="background-color: yellow; color: black; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">The police source said: ‘He tried to phone his family from the officer’s phone but he could only make local calls.

<span style="background-color: yellow; color: black; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">‘So Mr Dewani said we must take him straight to the hotel. It seems as if maybe the family hired the car for Mr Dewani.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">‘Every time the officer tried to ask him questions, Mr Dewani started crying.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">‘The officer would wait for Mr Dewani to calm down and then ask him again, but he just cried.’

HUSBAND'S PREVIOUS FIANCEE WAS DAUGHTER OF INDIAN AIRLINE TYCOON
By ABUL TAHER

Shrien Dewani was previously engaged to the daughter of a tycoon who founded the Indian budget airline SpiceJet.
In February 2009 Mr Dewani suddenly cancelled plans for the wedding, despite protests from his fiancee, Rani Kansagra, and her family.

It was around this time that he began dating Anni after meeting her through a relative in London. They married in a lavish ceremony in Mumbai a few weeks ago.

Miss Kansagra, 26, lives with her family in Northwood, Middlesex. Her father is multi-millionaire businessman Bhupendra Kansagra – who met Barack Obama when the US President visited India last month.

Last night Mr Kansagra refused to comment on the engagement between his daughter and Mr Dewani. He said: ‘I don’t want to get involved in this, I am not interested.’

Miss Kansagra also refused to comment but a friend of the family said: ‘Shrien suddenly broke off the whole thing and she begged him not to. Her dad also intervened, but it was of no use.

‘Now they think it was good, as her family did not like him much. He was a bit too showy and bit too full of himself. They are still angry at him for breaking off the engagement, but they are also relieved.’

The friend added: ‘Shrien was money-orientated, that’s for sure.’
Bhupendra Kansagra was one of the founding chief executives of SpiceJet, India’s second-biggest budget airline, with a fleet of 22 aircraft and 66 more on order.

When the airline was established in 2005, Mr Kansagra and his brother Suresh had a 13 per cent share in the company, which they sold in 2008. It is believed SpiceJet has a current market value of £160 million.

Mr Kansagra is now involved in the agriculture, oil and gas industries, and his companies operate in Britain, India and five Africa countries, including Kenya, which he left to move to Britain.
Last night Mr Dewani’s lawyer, Charlotte Harris, said: ‘Rani and Shrien met in August 2008. They got engaged in December 2008. They mutually decided not to get married in February 2009. Having spoken to the family, the relationship with his ex-fiancee did not end acrimoniously.’

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">News that Shrien, from Bristol, is to return to Cape Town came as detectives promised "an explosive revelation" in the case.
